Missionary Women in Ghana

When we were in Ecuador, I would have given my “eye teeth” for a time of refreshment and ministry to my soul with other women who understood my life! Thrive (a ministry to women who serve cross-culturally) has asked me to speak, out of my 40 years of missionary experience, to missionary women who will come from serving all over the continent of Africa at a special retreat.  This is a volunteer opportunity and I need to raise the funds for the trip above our regular monthly support. Advocates for the Poor

The Advocates for the Poor project trains poor South Asian women to help their fellow poor obtain rightful government benefits which they are usually lacking because of ignorance, intimidation and corruption. The need is enormous because South Asia is home to the largest number of urban poor in the world and is also one of the most corrupt regions of the world. This can leave poor families without some of their most basic necessities—things like access to clean water or electricity, the ability to enroll their children in school, access to available pensions or the ability to get a vendor’s license. It can leave victims of domestic abuse without recourse, communities without toilets, proper drainage or good roads and much more.  DONATE  MORE INFO

Gift of Literacy Project

For most of us, literacy is such a part of our everyday world, it’s almost impossible to imagine life without it. But for nearly 300 million adults in South Asia, 68% being women and girls, the darkness and shame of being unable to read, write or do simple math is an everyday reality. The Women’s Empowerment Project, started by Jerry and Marilyn Hogshead, is changing that reality for nearly 600 women involved in twenty adult literacy classes. DONATE More…

Irwin Bible Project

People groups are moving around the globe in record numbers in search of better economic opportunities and religious freedom. Many hear the Good News of the Gospel for the first time in their new host countries and are hungry to learn more of what the Bible has to say. Mark and Cindy Irwin are coming alongside local fellowships who seek to reach the refugees in their countries. Keeping up with the requests for Bibles is a real challenge, however. You can help to supply the great need for Bibles by giving to the Bibles for Refugees Project.  More…

Garbage City Ministry

There are three areas of ministry on the outskirts of Cairo, Egypt. The people there collect garbage, sort it, and sell it to make a living. They live in unbelievable filth, and the needs are overwhelmingly great. This ministry has three buildings in three different areas that are used to teach Life Skills, Bible Study, sewing projects, kids’ programs, and ladies’ programs. Through the Bible Study and kids program, the people learn about Jesus and HIS amazing love for them. Most of the people do not read nor write. Thus they need to hear the stories of Jesus and God’s word. They learn things our children are taught at a very early age about forgiveness, kindness, compassion and practical lessons about health.
